Busy, busy!
I have been so busy lately that I haven't had much time for posting.
My hours at work have been cut from 40 to 32 so you'd think I'd have more time, but I'm spending 1/2 of those hours in the classroom rather than the office so I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels. I am thankful, though, that I have a job as I know so many people who don't.
Some of the many things I've been working on lately:
- Marketing: YourPortHuron.com, working on business cards, improving website (CornerstoneCampus.webs.com)
- Fundraising: Younkers Community Days (Saturday, Feb 28), Pizza/Cookie Dough sale starting next week
- Great Start Mom-to-Mom sale (Saturday, April 18): planning, preparing items for my table
- Great Start Family Fun Guide: collect information re free/low cost summer activities for families
- Community Resource Fair (Tuesday, March 10): organizing child care for the day
- Celebrate Your Child (Saturday, April 25): organizing agencies & vendors, coordinating with committee
- Spring Safety Extravaganza (Wednesday, May 13): updating database for mailing
- Great Start Collaborative: typing meeting notes, updating attendance information
- MiAEYC Conference (March 26-28): preparing presentation
- Tuition Express: setting up new software, learning how to process tuition payments
- March of Dimes March for Babies (Sunday, April 26): organize team, fundraising
- The Body Shop at Home
- Science Fair Project (March 3)
Wow...no wonder I'm so tired all the time! LOL

Productivity
I've had a very productive, although frustrating, evening. Jenna has been finishing up her book report...we filled goodie bags that we stuffed into the pinata, then painted it. She's re-writing her report so that it is neater, and finishing up the last questions. Unfortunately, she's been very emotional so she's whiny and cries over everything.
Aren got a bath, and then a haircut. Not an easy feat...he doesn't sit still for anything. So, I'm sitting on the kitchen floor, trying to hold him in my lap, while I grab for a chunk of hair to cut. He just wanted to roll on his balloon. But, I did get a good size pile of hair, no cuts on him, & he doesn't look too ridiculous.
During all of that, I even fixed some dinner, sorted a stack of papers and a box of stuff, paid a bill, and finished watching Brothers & Sisters. I'm on a roll! Can I go to bed now?

Christmas To-Do List
This morning in my ABF we talked about Advent, especially the fact that Christmas will be what we make of it. And what message(s) do we want to get across to our kids during this time of the year...not just letting Christmas come & go and forgetting to focus on the real meaning. One of the steps was to make a plan so I'm going to work on that, & of course, lists work best for me.
- "trim" the Christmas tree
- set-up the Christmas village (find Disney box, add nativity to village)
- make Christmas cookies with Jenna (Aren can help decorate)
- make presents for Grandma (homemade ornments)
- read a piece of the Advent story each night (get Advent calendar)
- read "Two from Galilee"
- schedule Christmas parties in advance
- Christmas Eve traditions: service @ church, drive around seeing lights, open one gift
- Christmas cards w/ kid's pics
- Christmas research: Why stockings, meaning of gold, frankincense & myrrh, Christmas tree,
I'll keep adding as I think of things.

Update
Okay, so here goes with my required update!
Life is busy as always. This month should increase with the holidays here. I'm working on getting my house ready for Christmas...not sure where we're going to put up the tree & Jenna's Christmas Village. I usually do this the Friday after thanksgiving, but I had a full day so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it. Would it be bad if we skipped it this year? JK
We are looking forward to Cory coming home for Christmas. Jenna is really excited! She really misses him. Aren's still too young to really notice. But I'm sure he'll enjoy him when he's here.
I'm thinking about actually starting to do "The Body Shop at Home". I joined as a consultant mainly because I love the products & use them so much myself, but I'm about ready to start having parties. In fact, I have two scheduled in December. We'll see how they go!
Things at the daycare have been difficult. Numbers are really low so that means income is low. In order to balance the figures I've had to lay off another employee and work their hours in the classroom, along with my cut in hours. I feel like I am chasing my tail trying to get everything done and make sure I'm not forgetting anything. One week I forgot to make the deposit and had $192 in fees when payroll went through. I'm praying that we can make it through these tough economic times!
Jenna has really been enjoying 2nd grade...& I just love her teacher. Mrs. Farr is so laid back and really lets the kids be kids. Her classroom is loud & appears chaotic but the kids are very well-behaved and are learning so much!
At the beginning of November I joined Cutting Edge gym. I've really enjoyed working out there, but it has been so difficult to schedule. And the longer I go, the more time I want to spend there. A trip to the gym could easily consume a 3 hour block of time, when you count travel time, changing into workout clothes, treadmill, weight machines, free weights, sauna, shower & dress. Is it really work it? I've decided to at least keep going until after the holidays...& we'll see after that. I did lose 4 pounds the first week, but gained it back & weigh the same as when I started. But I do think that I have toned in places...Dave thinks so too. So that's a plus. But again, is it really worth it?
Well, I better get to bed!
